A Starter List of Places to Shop

For those of us who like alternative clothing we know that it can run us a pretty penny. Mainly because it's a niche interest so designers and sellers have to bump up the price to make a profit. But there are still options for us. Besides just finding the odd match in your run of the mill store or thrift shop, these are some great places to find alternative clothing at a relatively affordable price.

Hot Topic

I think this one is pretty well known and self explanatory. While Hot Topic is mostly known for band tees and fandom these days, they still sell well priced alternative clothing ranging from punk to goth and even the now popular steampunk style. I especially like their jewelry collection as it's affordable and stylish. As we know punk and gothic jewelry and accessories can run you quite a bit, such as the beautiful but expensive Alchemy Gothic collection.

Etsy

Etsy is a great place to shop for many things, not just clothes. You can acquire not only clothing but accessories and furniture as well and it all comes from actually people so you can support a budding fashion designer while filling your collection.

Ebay and Amazon

Like Hot Topic these go without saying and are pretty much identical so I grouped them together.
You can buy second hand pieces that while are not fresh off the rack all the time will be half or even a quarter of the price, saving you a huge chunk of change in the long run. Just make sure to clean anything you buy that's already been worn. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Thrift Shops

Thrift shops are amazing. Especially for my goth and steampunk lovers out there. You can find vintage pieces that'll look great and this can help you brush up on those sewing and restoring talents that you may find will come in handy in the long run. Once again, make sure to clean everything after buying it.

Everyday Places

Like I said in the beginning, there are lots of choices just out there if you know how to pair your pieces together. You can end up finding some hidden gems just by looking through the racks at your favorite TJ Maxx or H&M
